Foundation Trainee Pharmacist Programme
The Foundation Trainee Pharmacist (previously known as Pre-Reg) Programme provides a comprehensive and dynamic programme designed to develop you into a confident, clinically capable pharmacist ready for practice.
As a trainee pharmacist at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals, you will benefit from a broad & structured training programme - with the opportunity to gain all the knowledge, skills & behaviours required to practice safely & effectively as a newly qualified Pharmacist.
From early in your training year, you will work as part of the multidisciplinary clinical team, reviewing patients and developing your clinical knowledge and judgement.
Our integrated and well-established 13-week GP placement gives you valuable insight into primary care. You will work alongside practice pharmacists, GPs, and wider primary care professionals to understand continuity of care, and the interface between sectors - making you an adaptable and well-rounded practitioner.
Our aim is to equip trainee pharmacists with all the clinical, professional, and interpersonal skills needed for a successful and rewarding career as a pharmacist. Our comprehensive training programme has meant that since 2008 all trainees have passed the registration exam and the majority have then stayed on as newly qualified pharmacists.
