Audiology / Hearing Aids

Audiology is the area of medicine related to hearing, balance, and related disorders. We treat people with hearing loss and attempt to prevent others experiencing hearing damage. We use various tests to determine whether someone can hear within the normal range. If not, we try to determine the frequencies of hearing (high, middle, or low frequencies) that are affected, how badly they are affected, what may be the cause of the hearing damage or loss and if there are any lesions causing the issue and if so, where they are found (outer ear, middle ear, inner ear, auditory nerve and/or central nervous system).

Once the audiologist determines what is causing the abnormality in hearing, they will discuss the relavant options for treatment with the patient. These treatment options may include:

  • installation of a hearing aid
  • cochlear implants
  • tinnitus therapy
  • further appropriate medical referrals

We also provide further services, such as hearing aid replacements and/or fixing. Please choose which Audiology section you wish to find out more about below.
