Children's Pre-school Physiotherapy (0-4yrs)

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust has a team of specialist pre-school age physiotherapists within the Community Paediatrics Team for infants and young children aged 0-4 years. This team aims to support the physical development of young children.

Paediatric physiotherapists have additional experience, knowledge and understanding of child development and childhood conditions.

We offer a assessment and treatment of a range of conditions impacting development in young children such as;

  • Torticollis/plagiocephaly- a common infant condition affecting neck movement and head shape
  • Developmental delay- when children are not meeting their physical milestones in the expected timeframe
  • Gait variations – in-toeing, tip toeing, foot posture variations
    Orthopaedic conditions.
  • Treatment and developmental support for children with neurological conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, prematurity or genetic conditions working closely with the child’s family and/or caregivers.
  • Support and advice to nurseries and pre-school settings working with the children we treat for long-term conditions.
  • Hydrotherapy- Physiotherapy input for children with long-term conditions in a heated pool setting.
