Children's Acute Physiotherapy Team
Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s Acute Children’s Physiotherapy team provides physiotherapy for children and young people aged 0-16 years with acute problems.
Children’s physiotherapists are experienced clinicians who work with children and their families to help develop and maximise motor skills and function when children are affected by injury, illness and other disabilities. We work closely with children and families to offer individual treatment plans and interventions.
Physiotherapists will use a combination of approaches to provide intervention programmes, including walking aids.
We are committed to early intervention for children and where possible work to prevent or minimise the effects of any problems, looking to maximise the functional outcomes for all children.
Physiotherapists work closely with Occupational Therapists and other agencies that may be involved with your child and will often carry out joint appointments to help ensure an integrated team approach to your child’s treatment.
The team work in a variety of different settings including Women’s and Children’s Building at Arrowe Park Hospital, and St Catherine’s Health Centre.
