WUTH appoints first Resident Doctor Peer Lead

Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) has appointed its first Resident Doctor Peer Lead to strengthen support for resident doctors and help deliver NHS England’s 10-point plan to improve their working lives.

Tracey Livingstone, a Specialty Registrar in Urology, will link resident doctors with the Trust’s senior leadership team. Her role will focus on raising staff priorities, improving communication, and supporting work that improves the training and daily experience of resident doctors across the organisation.

Tracey will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Nikki Stevenson, who is also the Board Lead for Resident Doctor Experience. Together they will ensure staff views directly inform decisions that affect their training, wellbeing, and workplace processes.

Tracey said: “The new NHSE 10-point plan is a welcome initiative and I hope this role helps the Trust deliver positive change. I am due to complete my training in the next six months, so I bring recent experience of many of the priority areas within the plan. I will be seeking feedback from resident doctors and holding regular update meetings with Dr Stevenson and the senior leadership team.”

Dr Nikki Stevenson said: “I am pleased with Tracey’s appointment to this important role. It reflects the Trust’s commitment to improving the experience of resident doctors through the NHSE 10-point plan.

“The plan gives a clear framework to measure improvements in areas such as wellbeing, workplace processes, and pressures linked to training rotations.

“I look forward to working with Tracey to further understand the priorities of our resident doctors. They play a vital role in our hospitals and we want them to feel valued, supported, and empowered throughout their training.”
