Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®) Provider Course (11E)
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®) is a globally recognised programme providing a structured approach to the management of patients with life-threatening trauma.
This is a two-day, face-to-face course supported by mandatory pre-course e-learning, designed to develop essential knowledge, skills, and decision-making for safe trauma care.
Eligibility to attend
- Doctors at FY2 level and above
- Equivalent staff grades
- Eligible Advanced Clinical Practitioners (additional application required)
- Eligible hospital-based dentists
Pre-course learning (mandatory):
- Access is provided via the RCS VLE up to four weeks before the course
- Pre-course learning takes approximately 20–30 hours and includes online modules, videos, and MCQs
- Completion is required by 7:00am the day before the course
- Failure to complete will result in exclusion from the course and loss of course fee
- Participants must also read the ATLS® manual in full prior to attending.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Undertake primary and secondary assessments
- Prioritise trauma management
- Initiate treatment for life-threatening conditions
- Apply a structured xABCDE approach

Important
- All components must be passed to achieve ATLS® Provider status
- Failure requires full course reattendance
- No lectures are delivered — preparation is essential
