We have a dedicated Maternity Research Team at Wirral Women's and Children's hospital. Research is vital in order to provide evidence to improve treatment for patients within our care. You may be invited to participate in some of the research projects we are involved with whilst you are pregnant. Detailed information will be provided to enable you to make an informed decision about deciding to participate.

About the study
The study is aiming to identify medical, environmental, lifestyle and healthcare factors that could affect pregnancies and the well being of the baby between 20-28 weeks pregnancy.
Who can take part?
Recently pregnant women who have had a baby loss during pregnancy, labour or immediately after birth between 20 and 27+6 pregnancy.
What is involved
There are no extra visits to hospital.
- If you want to take part, you will need to sign a consent form. This will be sent via an email.
- You will then take part in an interview with the Research Midwife to complete a questionnaire at a time that's convenient for you.

About the study
The study is testing whether some new ways of using Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) could help women to stop smoking and could improve women’s and babies’ health.
Who can take part?
- Pregnant person who is less than 25 weeks pregnant
- Smoke 5 or more cigarettes a day
- Don’t vape everyday
Taking Part
- There are no extra visits to hospital.
- If you want to take part, you will need to sign a consent form. This will be sent via an email
- The Research Midwife will then ask you a number of questions about you, your pregnancy and your smoking
- You will also be asked to complete 2 short questionnaires: 1 when you have been in the study at 6 weeks and 1 at the end of the study. You will receive a £5 shopping voucher for each completed follow-up questionnaire

What is the study about?
PANDA is a research programme that aims to prevent anaemia in pregnancy to avoid health problems for women & their infants e.g. premature baby, low birth weight baby, headaches, dizziness using iron supplements during pregnancy.
Who can take part?
- Are you expecting a single baby?
- Less than 16 weeks pregnant?
- Do not have anaemia?
- Aged 18 or over
What is involved?
- Attend 2 antenatal hospital visits which are part of your routine care
- Take iron supplement or placebo tablets from around 12-16 weeks pregnant to 6 weeks after birth of your baby
- Answer some short questionnaires during the study
