WUTH Charity Grant Application Process

Please note the opportunity to submit a grant form has now passed.

Your Idea

We welcome applications from staff employed by Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH).

We encourage applicants to consider how the proposal aligns with our Charity expenditure guidance and Trust priorities, including Patient Experience Strategy.

We request potential applicants to discuss their idea with their Line Manager before preparing an application. We also advise you consider WUTH procurement processes. Any questions related to this, please email the Charity Team on wuth.charity@nhs.net.

Before you get started

Applications are now open for the new WUTH Charity Small Grants Programme. We hope this guide will support you through the application process, including a step-by-step guide to completing the form.

Improving staff experience when applying for funds is a priority for the new Charity Strategy. Supporting the funding rounds will be a new robust approval process to ensure grants are in line with Trust priorities and meet WUTH Charity objectives. This includes the establishment of a Grant Panel with delegation to approve funding up to £2000 amount.

Guiding principles on what WUTH Charity can fund for patients.

The guiding principles for this grant process are to support small projects that have a direct benefit to patients and incur no recurring costs for the Trust. For example, items to provide stimulation and entertainment for patients, improvements to patient areas and small items of non-medical equipment. Essentially, items that can enhance patient experience.

Applicants should discuss their idea with both their Line Manager before preparing any paperwork. A single member of your Triumvirate must support your application. This will be checked on submission of your application and before the Grant Panel meet to review your application. It is also advised you consider WUTH procurement processes before you begin your application, as there may be implications that could impact your request. If you are unsure of the procurement process, please speak to your line manager / finance business partner/ procurement team.

Applications under £2,000 are reviewed by our Grants Panel, with their decision of the presented to the following quarterly Charitable Funds Committee meeting. We endeavour to provide a decision to staff within one month of the grant round closing. If you miss the grant deadline date, your application will be included in the subsequent round.
