Join the WUTH Charity Abseil
This July, WUTH Charity will officially launch its first appeal ‘Tiny Stars’ with a spectacular abseil down the front of Arrowe Park Hospital. The appeal is anticipated to run for 3 years, and has a target to raise £1.5 million to refurbish the Neonatal Unit at Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital, which is based on the Arrowe Park site.
Leading the way on the abseil is Wirral University Teaching Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Janelle Holmes and Director of Nursing and Midwifery Gaynor Westray.
Janelle said: "What a great event to launch our Charity’s first appeal. I’m very excited to have been roped in! This is a huge opportunity to raise vital funds for our Neonatal Unit and ultimately our youngest patients and their families."
The event will be on Friday 12th July between 10.00am – 4.00pm and is open to anyone over the age of 12, from first-timers to experts.
Lynn Fletcher, Divisional Secretary for Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital, where the Neonatal Unit is based, is among the staff taking part in the event.
She said: “I have worked with the Neonatal Team for a number of years. I want to get involved because the work they do is so important and it’s a great cause”
The event will be supported by outdoor activity specialists Mountain Monkeys, who are providing expert instruction to those participating. There is a £5 enrolment fee and an expectation that a minimum of £50 sponsorship will be raised for the appeal to take part. Fancy dress is optional! The Charity team are on hand to help and advise you with your fundraising.
Victoria Burrows Head of Fundraising said: "We plan to make the day a great event for everyone and hope to encourage members of the Wirral community to take part. We know there is some great support for the Neonatal Unit already out in the community, so if this isn’t the event for you we hope that someone you know will accept the challenge. Just remember….. don’t look down!!!"
