Keep in touch with family
Wirral University Teaching hospital (WUTH) has launched a Family Support Team to help patients and their families stay in contact with each other or provide emotional support to family members. We also provide an after-care service for bereaved should it be required for families.
Our team of staff will be supporting relatives, offering updates about the hospital or sign posting to other areas externally, including current guidance on COVID-19 or relevant helplines.
The team will also be able to share messages to and from patients and their loved ones.
We offer an email service contact, which includes the facility to print off keepsakes such as children’s drawings, photographs etc, telephone contact through our helplines.
There is also a facility to record video messages to share with a patient from families and vice versa.
This is a Monday-Friday service operating from 8.30am – 5.00pm.
The Family Support Team also deliver patients' property to the wards. This service is operational from 10.00am-12.00pm, 2.-00pm-4.00pm Monday to Friday. Please bring only one bag to the hospital. Please do not bring food (this is for health and safety reasons as well as infection prevention and control). The exception to this would be for a weekend admission, where you would be able to deliver one bag to the ward (no food).
In order for you to retrieve property that is in need of washing, this must be via contacting the ward directly, when an arranged time for you to pick up at Main Reception will be made. Property will only be left in Main Reception for 48 hours until it is disposed of.
