Volunteer Companionship Service

A service is now offered at Arrowe Park Hospital to support patients in their final stages of life and their families.

The Volunteer Companionship Service is being offered in several wards by trained volunteers (some of whom are pictured below) whose role includes signposting people, making drinks for relatives, being a reassuring presence or simply providing company to a patient who may not have any family or friends around.

The initiative complements the existing care delivered by the hospital’s clinical teams and plans are in place to extend it across the whole trust in the future.
