Palliative and End of Life Care

Palliative and End of Life Care is the total care of patients (and their families or carers) who have a life threatening illness, which is progressing or likely to progress.

Here at Wirral University Teaching Hospital we are want to provide the best possible care for people at the end of their lives.

Along with health and social care partners from Wirral Hospice St. Johns, Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group, Wirral Council and Wirral Community NHS Trust, we have signed up to an End of Life Care Charter, which commits us to delivering the high standards of respectful and dignified care that people with life limiting illnesses and their loved ones deserve.

We have committed to 12 pledges aimed at reassuring people who are dying and providing peace of mind about the services available to support them. See the Wirral End of Life Care Charter.
