The Care Certifcate

 Care Certificate Logo Final6C

The Care Certificate is one of the outcomes of the Francis Report.

Its purpose is to ensure that healthcare support workers in all clinical roles have the required values, behaviours, competencies and skills to provide high quality compassionate care.

It is a national requirement from April 2015 and all new clinical band 1 - 4 CSW's (this excludes Qualified Assistant Practitioners) will be required to complete this training.  The Trust will support existing contracted staff if they wish to commence this workbook based training.

To complete the Care Certifcate, band 1-4 clinical CSW's must:

  • Have attended a Corporate Induction
  • Have attended the 2 day CSW Core Skills Course and
  • Complete the Care Certifcate workbook

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) will observe the Trusts compliance during any inspections.  Local compliance is managed throught the Clinical Education and Development Team (anne.ellis4@nhs.net).

For further information and support, please contact your Ward / Department - Sister / Charge Nurse or a qualified NMC Mentor and Assessor.
