Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt has announced the second wave of NHS digital pioneers, or ‘fast followers’ at this year’s NHS Innovation Expo in Manchester.
Hot on the heels of being granted Global Digital Exemplar last year, Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to confirm that the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will be its digital ‘fast follower’.
Speaking about today’s announcement, David Allison, Chief Executive of Wirral University Teaching Hospital said:
“I am delighted that the Secretary of State has announced the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a fast follower of our Wirral Global Digital Exemplar status. This is a great example of true partnership working, giving us the opportunity to work better together to make the most of digital technology and the positive impact this can have on quality safe patient care.
“Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the most digitally enabled in the country. As a Global Digital Exemplar we are able to extend our digital capability to help other organisations to make the most of the advantages technology can bring.
“Through our status as Global Digital Exemplar, which will have enabled us to draw down £10 million of national funding over two years, we will have enhanced our digital capabilities across the hospital and wider health and social care in Wirral and West Cheshire to be one of the top five percent most advanced technological systems anywhere in the world.”
