We are one of the biggest acute hospitals in the region as well as the largest employer in Wirral. The Trust is committed to ensuring that our services are accessible to all members of our community and that our services are delivered equally regardless of any difference and reflects the communities we serve.

The Trust fully embraces the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 and the requirements of the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). The Trust uses the NHS Equality Delivery System (EDS) as a framework for advancing Equality and Diversity and in 2012 published its EDS objectives for the next two years.

Equality Delivery System

The EDS was introduced across the NHS in 2011 and provides a framework for NHS Trusts to assess their work on Equality and Diversity across a number of objectives and outcomes. The EDS was fully assessed and verified by the Trust. Engagement sessions with both staff and our community partners took place and we published the results of our equality objectives in April 2012. We also publish updates on our progress against our objectives in our annual Equality and Diversity Report.
