Cancer Experiences Event in memory of Professor of Art and Cancer Patient

On 5th March 2024 Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH) is holding its first collaborative event for health professionals, trainees, patients and carers which is being hosted with Liverpool John Moores University Cancer Special Interest Group and North West Cancer Research.

The event is being held in memory of Professor John Hyatt, professor of art and cancer patient, whom many will remember for the art exhibition which WUTH hosted on his behalf during October and November last year. It was John's wish to raise awareness of head and neck cancer symptoms and improve patient experiences. He was also a member of LJMU's Cancer Special Interest Group. John sadly passed away in December, but played crucial role in initiating the 5th March event.

The Trust has also announced that on the day of the event, there will be a small selection of new paintings for delegates to view.

This special event has a unique format, involving speakers who are patients talking about their patient experiences, as well professionals talking about research into cancer patient experiences. There will be a chance to ask questions of speakers, and chat with them and other delegates over lunch.

The event has been organised to share professional learning with:

  • Clinical professionals who are interested in cancer and other patient experiences – medical, nursing, support workers, etc
  • Other healthcare professionals with an interest in cancer research
  • Patients with cancer experience
  • Carers, friends and family members of cancer patients

Interested professionals, staff, patients with experience of cancer and/or their carers, friends and family, are invited to book a place via Eventbrite.
