The below pages contain information around professional development opportunities and facilities within the Trust.
There are many training opportunities for all types of doctor – primary and secondary care. We also train medical undergraduates. Generally, traditional lunchtime sessions are open to all and an open discussion is encouraged. Mixing trainees with trainers produces a healthy educational environment for all concerned. Most training occurs on the ArroweParkHospital site.
Foundation Year 2 doctors have dedicated protected teaching on a Friday afternoon, whereas Foundation Year 1 doctors receive their teaching on a Wednesday morning and at lunchtimes during the week. Again, visitors are welcome to sit in on these by arrangement with the Education Centre staff.
Many courses are available for specific skills. These are both generic eg communication and specific eg MRCP teaching. Some of these courses require a booking.
The Trust has an excellent Library and Knowledge Service. The McArdle Library in the Education Centre at Arrowe Park hospital provides access to a wide range of information resources (print and electronic), services, support and IT facilities.
Professional librarians can help you to gain access to quality information and evidence.
The Library & Knowledge Services is currently assessed as 97% compliant with the Library Quality Assurance Framework.
Please visit the library website for information on the full range of services and facilities, contact details etc.
The Education Centre at ArrowePark was opened in 2005. There are 8 rooms of varying sizes plus a lecture theatre to hold 180 people. A cafe facility is available 8am to 3pm and proves popular with staff. The Centre at Clatterbridge also has several rooms and a large lecture theatre. These facilities are competitively priced and available for hire.
